On December 20th the Grade 3-5 students from Viscount Alexander School travelled to the Canadian Tire Centre for a special treat sponsored by the Senators’ Foundation. The day started off with a delicious pizza lunch and then students met up with the Senators owner Eugene Melnyk who made the day possible. Afterwards, students were brought to the dressing rooms to find a special surprise: brand new skates, helmets and Senator's jerseys for each student to keep. With the help of alumni hockey players and volunteers from the Sens' foundation, students quickly got suited up and headed out on the ice for a skate with the actual Senators' hockey team, who had just finished a practice. With a few coveted sharpies, some students even managed to get a few autographs. What a day! Now that is what we call holiday spirit. A big thank you to the Senators’ Foundation for this amazing gift and opportunity.

In honour of Remembrance day students wrote poems about Peace, connecting the meaning of peace with everyday experiences and created newsprint collages including a word responding to the title, “Why wear a Poppy”. This connected to our dramatic reading of the poem, “Why wear a poppy” For our annual Remembrance Day Assembly.

Happy Halloween from the mini Grade 4-5 Class Pumpkins!
Fall Colours decorate the halls. Students used the design elements of line and colour to capture the autumn theme.
